1. How Often should my HVAC system be serviced?
HVAC systems should be professionally serviced twice per year. Service for the AC should be done in the Spring before the peak season and the furnace should be done in the fall.
2. How often should filters be replaced?
Standard filters should be checked every 2-3 months and replaced as needed. Air media filters usually are good for 6 months or longer and changed as needed.
3. How long do HVAC systems usually last?
The average life spans vary by equipment:
With annual service, the life span can be prolonged.
4. What temperature should I set on my thermostat?
5. What are the benefits of a programmable thermostat?
A programmable thermostat is programmed for when you leave and return to your home. For example, the thermostat turns down the furnace when you leave and 30 minutes before you return and then resumes your normal temperature for when you arrive home.
On average a programmable thermostat can save up to 15% off your winter and 10% off your summer energy costs.
6. What size HVAC system do I need for my home?
Having the right size system for your home is critical to your comfort. If your system is too large, your system will short cycle and not control humidity correctly. If your system is too small, it will run continuously. When you need a new system, we recommend you contact us to schedule a FREE Estimate for your replacement equipment to complete a heat loss analysis to ensure you get the most efficient model for your comfort.
7. Is an HVAC issue an emergency?
If you notice gas odors, smoke, flames, or carbon monoxide alarms are going off, leave your home and contact emergency services.
8. How long does it take to install an HVAC system?
Most systems can be installed in 1 day. If you have a more complicated installation that will take more than 1 day, we will notify you when you receive your estimate.
9. When I'm on vacation, should I turn off my system to save energy?
If you are going to be away from your home for a few days, we recommend 85 in the summer and 60 in the winter to preserve energy and your homes plants, furnishings, and water pipes in the winter.
10. During a storm, should I turn off my HVAC system?
If you are noticing your lights flicker during a storm, we recommend you turn off your system until the storm passes to prevent short cycling of your system.

1. How do I know if my AC should be repaired or replaced?
If your AC is an old R22 system, it should be replaced since the freon is no longer produced for these systems. Otherwise, if your system is over 12 years old, struggles to cool or needs frequent repairs that are costly, it may be more cost effective to get a FREE Estimate to replace your AC.
Another item for consideration is the improvements in new AC models. Today's moder air conditioning systems improve the elimination of hot and cold areas of homes with variable speed motors, high and low humidity, bad air quality with air media cleaners, high utility bills, noisy indoor and outdoor equipment and more.
2. Why is my AC running but not blowing cool air?
Common causes for this issue include dirty filters, low refrigerant, thermostat issues, or dirty coils. Sometimes a good cleaning may be all that is needed especially if you do not have annual service of your equipment. When our technician comes out, he will clean and thoroughly inspect your system to get you back in cool air as soon as possible.
3. Why does my AC keep turning on and off?
This is known as short cycling of the equipment. Short cycling can be the result of airflow restrictions, thermostat issues, low refrigerant, or an oversized system. When our technicians are out, they will clean and inspect your system thoroughly.
4. What should I do if my AC freezes up?
You should turn off your AC at the thermostat and only leave the fan on to move air to assist in thawing the unit. Frozen coils usually point to an airflow or refrigerant problem that will require a technician to come out and resolve.
5. Why is my AC leaking water?
Leaks often are the result of a clogged condensate drain, frozen coils, or damaged drain pains. When our technician arrives, he will clean the system and drains as part of our normal service and inspect the system for resolution.
6. If I like to keep my house cool in the summer, would a new and/or bigger unit help?
Bigger is not always better in the HVAC industry. If you have an older system however, you could benefit from a new right sized system for your home.

1. How do I know when to replace my heating system?
If your system is over 12 years old and you are having costly breakdowns and notice your home is heating unevenly and/or your energy bill is rising, it may be time for a FREE ESTIMATE for new equipment.
2. Why is my heat running but blowing cold air?
This could be caused by ignition problems, thermostat issues, or airflow restrictions. When our technician comes to your home, he will assess the issue and get you back up as quickly as possible.
3. Why is my heater making a loud or unusual noise?
If you hear banging, rattling, or whistling sounds, this may indicate there is something loose, airflow issues, or motor problems. When our technician arrives, he will fully clean and assess your situation to get your matter resolved to minimize bigger problems.
4. Why does my heating system run constantly?
Dirty filters, control problems, or incorrect system sizing can prevent proper cycling of the system. When our technician arrives, he will fully clean your system and assess your situation to resolve and let you know how to prevent in the future so you can minimize your energy costs.
5. Do Heat Pumps work in cold weather?
Heat Pump technology has greatly improved and are now designed to operate efficiently and keep you and your family warm. Ask our technicians about heat pump technology during your FREE ESTIMATE if you are interested.
